We are pleased to announce that our long-standing and committed advisory board member Prof. Dr. Rana Alsoufi has been appointed to the German Ethics Council as of 1 April 2026.
She was nominated by the Federal Government and succeeds Prof. Dr. Muna Tatari.
This appointment recognizes Prof. Alsoufi’s outstanding academic work in Islamic normative studies and ethics, with a particular focus on Islamic legal theory, ethical reflection, and interdisciplinary research addressing contemporary societal questions.
Prof. Dr. Alsoufi is Professor of Islamic Normative Studies and Ethics at Goethe University Frankfurt. She studied Islamic law in Jordan and completed her doctorate in Islamic theology at the University of Edinburgh. She is actively engaged in various academic and interreligious networks.
We warmly congratulate her on this important appointment and wish her every success in her work on the German Ethics Council.
